Time Trial Fork
Is it really much faster to have a time trial carbon triathlon compared to a road bike aluminum?
I a new road bike aluminum with carbon fork, I'm competing in triathlons, and found myself falling far behind the guys with bikes against the clock with wheels carbon aerodynamic to catch the race with times of 10 minutes faster on the 10 km. I do not think my condition is Physics on the bike is missing but a bike in the range of $ 5000 a shave 5-10 minutes off time compared to cycling a bike in the range of $ 900 on a 40 km time trial?
The materials on the bike does not matter in most cases. You are perfectly able to beat a carbon frame with an aluminum frame. Now if you compare a $ 5000 bike vs. a $ 900, then there may be some differences. Most likely wheels. Aerodynamics is the key here: Better rim reduce drag in a lot. That is why they sometimes use disks or Zipp 1080 by example. If you do not have Aero bars, that will make a huge difference. Aero helmet will also help. Forget the weight, it is not relevant, except if you are climbing and the wheels are very heavy which is not Aero. I can not look at your bike and tell you what's wrong, but there are many articles that can help you reduce drag by making adjustments to the bike (like lowering the handlebars) and your riding position.
