High school: Wrestling AND debate team?
I'm a 15 year old girl in 10th grade and I was thinking of joining the wrestling team. I don't know much about wrestling, but one of my friends is trying to recruit me because the girl's team is lacking members.
I'm just wondering what are the pros and cons about joining the wrestling team.
*I wear heels for debate...
* I'm not very fit (athletically), but I won't have PE next year so I want a way to exercise. around 150-160 pounds, 5'4". Never been on a sports team.
* Not agressive, but like to try new things. I have lower endurance and often feel weak.
is there an effect of wrestling that can hinder my performance in a debate round? I stand up in front of a podium and don't breathe for about 7 minutes... walk in heels for 12 hours on tourney days...
It's a great experience to join a wrestling team and you should always try and join a sports team in high school.
You might be sore during the days after practices but your endurance builds with training.
Your heels should not be a much of a problem, if anything wrestling will help maintain balance.
You might have shortness of breath but normally you won't get it.
You might need to lose some weight or put on muscle mass. You're a little short for the weight class you would be put in.
