What is the stiffest road/triathlon bike frame?
I have done 4 Ironmans and weigh 250 pounds, last one being 5 years ago. I sold my Trek OCLV frame and was wandering what the stiffest carbon fiber frame out there that is reasonably prices. Thanks
Every manufacturer claims they have the lightest and stiffest frame. They all have a list of professionals that use their bikes to win major races. You'll just have to test ride a bunch of them to find the one that feels best to you. Having done 4 Ironmans, that should not be too hard for you.
When test riding, a lot of the "feel" of the bike depends on the tires, wheels, and fork. Be aware of the differences, especially when you get down to "tie breaker" decisions. I once road tested a bike that I thought was smoother than my current ride. Upon further investigation, I found the real difference was the 25 mm tires inflated to 110 psi vs my bike's 23 mm tires inflated to 150. Saved me the money for buying that new bike (at least for about 4 months before I bought a new one anyway, but that's a different story.)
