Penske moving truck question....?
i am moving back east from Phoenix... Never towed a car before so i dont know what to expect. Would it be better and cheaper on gas to take I-10 to Tucson(generally flat) then over into NM and up to Albequerque to avoid climbing up I-17 through Flagstaff mountains and burning more gas hauling that load up?? It will be the 16ft Penske towing a 06 mustang, and we dont have much stuff to load in the truck, maybe like a 2 bedroom house worth. Going via Tucson is roughly 2 hours longer, so im tossed if its worth it to go that route to save burning allot of gas climbing up to flagstaff or will it just equal the gas consumption going 2 hours out of the way just to avoid the climb up to Flagstaff
Prolly 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
2 hours is what, 120 miles? You'll get about 10mpg in that truck, so call it 12 gallons of gas.
Are you paying a mileage fee? better check that closely. Run the mileage at Google Maps and see which is the shorter distance.
IF it were me I'd take I-10 into TX, pick up I-20 into Dallas, I-30 into Little Rock, I-40 in Memphis then figure it out. Boring but easy.
