Custom Paint
will my custom paint job be covered by insurance?
My vehicle has custom airbrushed paint. If I were to get in an accident and it was the other persons fault, would it be covered? would the vehicle be painted to match the custom work? would the panel hit be repainted to OEM and then the rest left as custom work, or would the entire vehicle be repainted to return to OEM? Also, what if I was at fault, what would be covered?
Nope, with reg. full coverage insureance custom work is not covered.
They only pay for what was stock.. In fact alot of the insurance companies will try to just pay you for used parts to repair car with.
The only way to get custom work covered is with declared vaule insureance. This is where you take car to company they have a person look it over, look over all your paper work on things you paid for, etc.. Then tell you how much the custom mods is "worth"
Then your insusrance is adjusted to cover that new worth.. Your price per term goes up alot but atleast everything is covered..
Now being theres a new set price on the worth of your car, if its your fault or other person's the insurance compay (yours or theirs) has to pay to have car fixed back to the cond. it was in.
Alot of us hot rodders, restore, street rod guys does that with our insurance because the companies values 60's and 70's muscel cars at a very low price ($1000 or so)
