help with fixie rear wheel?

im thinkgn of getting a single speed fixed gear bike(fixie) and i was thinking of buying a freewheel for when i dont feel like pedalling all the time i odnt know anything about road bikes and fixes cuz i use a mountain and i heard this from someone who only has a single speed road bike
first off does this work
2nd how much is the freewheel going to cost?
and third how much is it going to cost to install breaks

Well you're going to need a few things, for the rear wheel you're going to need a wheel with a fixed/free flipflop hub which basically means that one side of the wheel has a fixed cog and the other side has a freewheel so you can switch between the two. Freewheels go from $10-20 but if you want to replace the whole wheelset you could buy the Eighthinch Amelia Wheelset - it comes in black, white, or silver and comes with tires, tubes, cog, and lockring. If you have a flipflop hub you should probably decide whether you want to ride fixed or freewheel most of the time because a freewheel will require a longer chain so if you want to keep switching between the two you'll need two chains. Brakes aren't that expensive, on my fixie I only have a front brake and that works fine for me. If you look on craigslist you could probably find a lever and caliper for $20-30 and then housing and cable will be around $5-10 at your local bikeshop.
