spray paint isn't sticking on my aluminum bike frame?
Hello I have this problem,I recently took up this project of me tearing down my 26" mountain bike completely. Sanding, painting, etc. Well I first got some paint stripper and it barely got any of paint off so I wiped it all off and then sandblasted it which worked great. after that I cleaned the parts up starting with my frame. I sprayed it with some colorsplace primer which sticked to the frame alright, good enough but then I waited a day and then painted it with some colorsplace matte black paint which didnt stick at all,is there any thing I can do to make the paint stick?? thanks so much
You are using really cheap Walmart enamel. Start over using good acrylic lacquer- Duplicolor is good stuff and can be found at many auto parts stores. Note that sandblasting aluminum will work harden the metal and cause it to fail.
