What kind of rims/tires, should I buy for my road bike?
I have a mid 80's Nashiki right now with 27 x 1 1/4 rims. They are chrome alloy and not the lightest wheels on the block as you might assume. I bought the bike road-ready at the beginning of summer but the rear tire is balding from a harsh skid, and today I noticed bubbling in that same spot.
I'm not exactly hurting for cash at the moment and wouldn't mind making a little value adjustment to the bike to finish out the rest of spring and fall. I'm thinking of possibly buying a new rim and tire set, but I don't know where to start. I'm kind of new to buying and fixing but I'm learning quick. My price limit is about 250 if thats possible, but I don't even know prices so...
I ride my bike to work everyday it's not raining hard so I need to buy this stuff ASAP!!! I'd appreciate any info, websites, or help you can give me.
PS: I also really really need a new crank set (correct?) too. any suggestions for that?
You can still buy 27 inch tires for the bike. I would take the $250 and save it toward a new bike. For $500 you can get a pretty decent bike at bikes direct.
